A plush red carpet is situated along the entrance of the museum. Limousines are parallel to the curb, slithering forward. It's warm out and media cameras and crews’ lights flash through the darkness.

“Daniel, Daniel.” Sia, the celebrity interviewer from Entertainment News channel places a microphone in his face. “And Desire Taylor. The two of you look very well together,” she mentions. “Nicely color coordinated.”

“Are we?” I arch an eyebrow, glancing over at Daniel simulating astonishment. “Mr. Rutledge seems more coordinated with his hair than anything.”

She laughs at that. “Beautiful and a sense of humor. I see what you see in her, Daniel.”

“Well…” Daniel steps closer to me.

I speak quickly. “I'm his good luck charm. Only for the night, though,” I add, emphasis on the latter.

Daniel’s jaw tenses for a nanosecond, then he adds to the mystery with, “Unless you plan on attending the new Titan Jetways. Ms. Taylor will be right by my side then. Sexy. Funny. Intelligent.”

We move along.

“What was that? Why so vague?” Daniel growls under his breath.

“I don't like people in my business.”

His thick brows knead together, yet he doesn't speak anymore on the subject. I'm no fool. Allowing the world to find out who I'm dating prior to my parents would be tacky. The argument I had with Daniel about the magazine a while back was more so me angry at Azalea’s words. I still don't understand what she meant by him being allowed to fall in love with me but not I with him. Though it's too late for that, I'd like to tell my mother about my feelings. I’d rather she not find out through social media. My mother will hate Daniel… that's if she knows about his previous connection to my aunt Azalea.
